Regulatory Approval
As we’ve mentioned before, the regulatory approval of end devices and gateways is not part of any approvals provided by the LoRa Alliance. However, all devices deployed must have the relevant regulatory approval before being used in any country or region.
There are various bodies worldwide that set regulatory standards for electronic devices. In most countries and regions there are additional regulatory requirements that devices containing radios must meet.
In the United States, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) determines the approved use of the ISM bands.
In Europe, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) is responsible for regulating devices that make use of the ISM bands.
The rest of the world typically follows one of these regulations, with slight modification.
In all cases, device providers are responsible for ensuring that all regulatory approvals are obtained.
If you require assistance in getting the correct regulatory approval, you may be able to get help from the test houses authorized by the LoRa Alliance, or from other test bodies.
