Helium Network Overview and Basics
Summary
The Helium network has opened new paths for LoRaWAN network endpoint and sensor deployments. The innovative Helium blockchain incentive model has encouraged the deployment of hundreds of thousands of Helium Hotspots across the world. This LoRaWAN network coverage and the use of zero friction data credits to pay for device network access has dramatically lowered barriers, including the capital and operating expenditure costs, for IoT solution deployments. Network coverage can easily be extended to new locations by deploying new Hotspots individually, with partners, or through commercial LoRaWAN network operators.
In later modules of this series, we will provide a detailed example of LoRaWAN end device onboarding to the Helium Console and demonstrate a complete smart building solution, as well as an asset tracking solution, using the TagoIO dashboard. The smart building example will include open/close sensors, water leak and motion detection, and temperature/humidity monitoring.
